Liz Brockland, RN, BSN

Welcome to Imagine! I’m Liz, a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) student from Rush University. I’ve been a registered nurse for over ten years, having worked first as a bedside nurse at Lurie Children’s Hospital and then in maternal/child health. I’ve spent the last 7 years of my career working as a community health nurse. In this role, I’ve conducted home visits with formerly homeless adults throughout the city of Chicago and helped manage the medical needs of a 72-bed homeless shelter throughout the pandemic. The individuals I’ve worked with over the years have taught me a lot about resilience, and I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with them to support their physical and mental health goals.

My interest in working in the mental health field grew out of this experience, where I witnessed the interplay of the mind/body experience, so I went back to school to obtain my doctorate as a PMHNP. Now in the final year of my program, I’ve completed rotations in adult and pediatric outpatient psychiatry and am excited to join the team at Imagine Healthcare. In my spare time (granted, there’s not a ton of it these days!) I enjoy yoga, reading, writing, and playing tennis. My interest lies in a more holistic approach to healthcare, and I’m looking forward to working at Imagine Healthcare with a team of people who share that vision.
