Prism for PTSD: FDA-Cleared for PTSD Treatment
Discover a Non-Talk Therapy for PTSD at Imagine Healthcare
If you are living with PTSD, there is a way Back to Better. Introducing Prism for PTSD, a treatment now available at Imagine Healthcare where you discover your own personal way to control brain activity associated with PTSD to help you get control of your symptoms.
Prism is a prescription treatment that does not require talking about your trauma. What makes this treatment unique is that it is powered by you.
What Makes Prism for PTSD Unique?
Prism is a completely different type of therapy, called self-neuromodulation.
Self – Because you are in the driver’s seat, expertly guided by your trusted healthcare professional and Prism.
Modulation – Because you are actively learning to regulate an amygdala-based biomarker that mirrors brain activity associated with your PTSD symptoms.
How Prism’s Self-Neuromodulation Therapy Works
During Prism treatment, you will sit in a quiet room in front of a computer monitor. You will be fitted with an EEG headset, which looks like a soft swim cap with small electrodes. These electrodes measure brain activity, like a fitness wearable measures your heart rate.
You will watch a computer simulation with agitated animated characters, or avatars. The only thing you need to do is get the avatars to calm down.
What to Expect During a Session
How do you do it? You explore finding a mental strategy – a personal memory, emotion, or experience – to lower the level of the amygdala-based biomarker.
As you engage in a mental strategy that lowers the level of the biomarker, the avatars gradually sit, stay seated, and lower their voices. Since there is no single mental strategy that works for everyone, you will have an opportunity to discover what works just for you!
The Science Behind Prism: EEG, Machine Learning & PTSD Treatment
This is the advanced technology behind Prism. Prism reads the signal from the EEG headset and computes the amygdala-based biomarker.
The amygdala-based biomarker was developed by applying advanced statistical models, including machine learning, to register fMRI data from deep in the brain to EEG.
Does Prism for PTSD Work? Clinical Trial Results & Success Rates
In the Prism clinical trial, 67% of the patients had a significant improvement in their PTSD symptoms three months after completing treatment.
Side effects were mild, such as fatigue and headaches, which resolved after treatment with no intervention.
Is Prism for PTSD Right for You? FDA Clearance & Safety Info
Prism is FDA-cleared as an adjunctive treatment of symptoms associated with PTSD, to be used under the direction of a healthcare professional, together with other pharmacological and/or non-pharmacological interventions.
Your PTSD is personal, your treatment should be too. And it is only available here at Imagine Healthcare.
